Thanks to your support we’ve had a busy February and we’ve got plenty of good updates for you! First off just a few free videos I want to recommend. James Brown was a major pioneer in the development of Hip Hop, Funk and BBoying and with his passing around Christmas last year I wanted to send out something in his memory. I found a great video of him absolutely ripping his set 100%, click here to see James Brown, the Godfather of Soul at his best.
For all the Bboys, BGirls and BBoy Stance loving heads out there, check out this comedy clip taking at crack at the practicality of the BBoy Stance, this will make you laugh until you pull something.
CypherStyles.com is based in the Steel City, Pittsburgh, PA and my friend Frank, President of Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Mellon University BBoy Club organized a dope free BBoy Class and Battle right at CMU called Monster Clash. CypherStyles sponsored the battle and sold videos and gear and hooked up the winners with CypherStyles giveaways and your favorite BBoy Store Owner GRIZ got to take a master class with the Rock Steady Crew and BBoy Legend Crazy Legs. It was hard he had us all panting and sweating after just a few minutes but he had some great tips. I’m trying to apply them to my dancing and I’m gonna pass along a few recommendations from Crazy Legs to all of you.

1) To build endurance get 2-3 other Bboys and BGirls together. Each one jump in the Cypher in a row and do pure floor work and foundation (no freezes or toprocks) for 30 seconds straight and do 4 cycles through the group. 4 Sets of 30 seconds doesn’t sound like much but everyone in that room was hurting by the end.
2) To build lower body strength do drop sets of Brooklyn Uprocks, Warmup, then do 50 Brooklyn Uprocks (without using your arms to stand back up), take a 1 minute break, then do 25 take a 1 minute break, then do 10. Do the Uprocks hard and fast and you’ll definitely make your legs get stronger.
3) One of the best ways to expand your moves is by limiting yourself. Next time you do a toprock, don’t use your left foot at all, see how many different ways you can rock with just your right foot. Try the same thinking for floorwork too, or try footwork with only one arm. I was really surprised how quickly I was coming up with moves I’d never done before with this strategy.
